More media bias from the NYT - Latest News - Mike Huckabee

More media bias from the NYT - Latest News - Mike Huckabee:

The latest undercover video from James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas shows the home page editor of the New York Times admitting that the paper leans left and that it’s “too difficult” to be objective. She says they give readers what they want – Trump bashing – because it has boosted subscriptions, and that’s the main objective, which you do in “any way that you can.” She thinks Trump is an “oblivious idiot” and Mike Pence isn’t fit for a leadership position because of his Christian religious beliefs. Oh, and the Times tried to affect the results of the election by focusing on attacking Trump

So subscriptions are more important than the truth.  Follow the money.  The Founders understood the importance of freedom of the press.  But, it was predicated on honest reporting.  We don't have that today and the press should not be protected in a way that allows them to slander and lie.  However, it's very difficult to control that without imposing onerous rules and reducing freedom.  Public opinion and pressure to their pocketbook, similar to what is happening to the NFL, would be helpful.  Let the market work.

U.S. jobless claims drop to more than 44-year low

U.S. jobless claims drop to more than 44-year low:

October 19, 2017
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell to its lowest level in more than 44 years last week, pointing to a rebound in job growth after a hurricane-related decline in employment in September.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped 22,000 to a seasonally adjusted 222,000 for the week ended Oct. 14, the lowest level since March 1973, the Labor Department said
on Thursday. Data for the prior week was revised to show 1,000 more applications received than previously reported.
The decrease in claims was the largest since April and was probably exaggerated by the Columbus Day holiday on Monday.
Claims are declining as the effects of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma wash out of the data. Harvey and Irma, which lashed Texas and Florida, boosted claims to 298,000 in early September.
A Labor Department official said claims for the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico continued to be impacted by Irma and Hurricane Maria, which destroyed infrastructure. As a result the Labor Department continued to estimate claims for the islands.
Nonfarm payrolls dropped by 33,000 jobs in September as Hurricanes Irma and Harvey left more than 100,000 restaurant workers left temporarily unemployed. The Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are not included in nonfarm payrolls.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast claims falling to
240,000 in the latest week. Last week market the 137th consecutive week that claims remained below the 300,000 threshold, which is associated with a strong labor market.
That is the longest such stretch since 1970, when the labor market was smaller. The labor market is near full employment, with the jobless rate at a more than 16-1/2-year low of 4.2 percent.
The four-week moving average of initial claims, considered a
better measure of labor market trends as it irons out
week-to-week volatility, fell 9,500 to 248,250 last week.
The claims data covered the survey week for October nonfarm payrolls. The four-week average of claims fell 20,500 between the September and October survey periods, supporting views of a rebound in job growth this month.
The claims report also showed the number of people still
receiving benefits after an initial week of aid decreased 16,000 to 1.89 million in the week ended Oct. 7, the lowest level
since December 1973.
The so-called continuing claims have now been below the 2 million mark for 27 straight weeks, pointing to diminishing labor market slack. The four-week moving average of
continuing claims dropped 22,750 to 1.91 million, the lowest level since January 1974. That was the 25th consecutive week that this measure remained below the 2 million market.

Radical Islamic Ideology – A Plague Against Humanity

Radical Islamic Ideology – A Plague Against Humanity:

Some time back it was reported that an alert Maryland police officer saw an Islamic woman in an SUV videotaping a bridge’s support structures. He arrested the driver, Ismail Elbarasse—a Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood operative. An FBI raid on Elbarasse’s home unearthed a trove of Islamic doctrinal books and key Muslim Brotherhood documents—which became evidence in the largest terrorism-financing trial in U.S. history.
Islam’s books are “the real bomb,” Muslim reformer Islam al-Behery said. Its ideology is “its blueprint” for world domination. A document from the Elbarasse raid outlines the Muslim Brotherhood’s phased plan to destroy Western civilization from within:
Phase One: Secret establishment of leadership.
Phase Two: Gradual public profile by infiltrating government, the judiciary, finance, intelligence, police, prisons, military, education and religious institutions.
Phase Three: Escalation prior to conflict and confrontation with rulers using mass media.
Phase Four: Publically confront the government using political pressure. Weapons training domestically and overseas in anticipation of zero-hour.
Phase Five: Seize power to establish the Islamic state.
Other documents outline the plan to replace the U.S. Constitution with sharia (Islamic law). Sharia is based on the Quran and other Islamic writings. Moderates see it a spiritual struggle, or outwardly observe it for fear of reprisal. But for radicals, sharia is the legal and political foundation for jihad and global rule, a power play to force Islam on the world. The D.C. based Center for Security Policy calls it a “totalitarian ideology” controlling all legal, political, military, economic and social life. No other laws or governments may coexist with sharia. It’s primarily political, not religious; though in America it masks itself as a religion to manipulate the First Amendment as a front for seditious activity.
The Quran requires all Muslims to wage jihad (holy war) against infidels (non-Muslims). Jihad calls for multiple stages and platforms—violent and pre-violent. An Elbarasse memorandum calls the pre-violent “settlement process” in North America “civilization jihad” to destroy the Western way of life. In jihad’s final, violent stage, non-Muslims convert or die. Though jihad is obvious in North America and Europe, it’s not limited to the West.
The phased plan is a template for radical Muslim subjugation. Indonesia, a secular, mostly moderate Muslim-majority democracy, is a case in point. Its motto, “Unity in Diversity” reflects its six religions and 300 ethnicities. Though religious parties’ gains in national elections have been paltry, locally elected Islamists passed more than 400 sharia ordinances, according to economist.com. Christian incumbent Basuki Tjahaja “Ahok” Purnama lost a recent governor’s race when radical Islamists told Muslim voters that Islam forbids voting for Christians. A video of Ahok’s rebuttal was edited to appear he was insulting the Quran. Charged with blasphemy, he lost the election and was sentenced to jail.
Ahok’s conviction—accompanied by violent rallies and death threats, shows the chilling influence on pluralism by “hardline Islamism that the government and judiciary are reluctant to oppose,” said Time reporter Nicola Smith. In Indonesia, radical Islamists have advanced their plan for global dominance to Phase Four.
Then there’s Iran, whose visceral anti-Semitism and poisonous ideology infuses jihad and sharia, but with a twist. The late Ayatollah Khomeini, and his successor, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, sidestepped Shi’a believe that the Mahdi (12th Imam), a quasi-messianic figure, must return before waging jihad and adopted an ideology promoting a senior Shiite cleric to theocratic political power over Shiites worldwide. Khomeini offered himself as successor to the 12 Imams, thus “inheriting the mantle of leadership directly from Muhammad,” said expert Clare Lopez.
Khomeini inserted his doctrine into the 1989 constitution, in which the regime’s objective is global conquest under sharia rule and nuclear dominance is a surefire path to achieve that goal.
Iran and its proxies not only menace Israel’s existence and portend regional upheaval, the “bomb” of Islamist ideology threatens the lives and freedoms of every sovereign nation in the world.

So much needs to change with our institutions, yet there no signs of any changes even being contemplated. This is bad news for the taxpayers who are footing the bill and depend on them for one-fifth of the new officer pool. America, Your Campuses Are Madhouses. Why Are We Paying For This?

America, Your Campuses Are Madhouses. Why Are We Paying For This?:

Here is a gentle tip for the nominal adults nominally in charge of American campuses: if your students disrupt a scheduled event, or storm the stage of a school function, or take a classroom hostage (particularly on an exam day!), do not give in to them. Instead, have security escort them out immediately. If they resist, arrest them. If they persist, expel them.

Putting one’s foot down will not be easy or pleasant. But it is necessary—unless you wish to surrender your campuses and careers to mindless, fanatical zealots.
This is a whole lot like good parenting but, then, we're not very good at that either.   So, nominal parents pass of their kids to nominal adults at American campuses.

Kasich: Trump, Bannon Agenda ‘Is Not What’ the Republican ‘Party Is’:

Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) said the executive chairman of Breitbart News Steve Bannon targeting Republican senators to help ensure President Donald Trump’s agenda is being moved forward is pushing policy that is “not what the party is.” Partial transcript as follows: TODD: There seems to be a massive battle inside this Republican party. Steve Bannon yesterday declared it a season of war against the Republican establishment, singling out people like Bob Corker in particular, and thought it was outrageous he cared to criticize the president. What do you make of what Steve Bannon is doing to the Republican party? KASICH: I was on a show not long ago saying I’m disappointed in the direction of the Republican party. They cannot be anti-trade or anti-immigrant. They just can’t walk away from increasing debt. The Republican party can’t go out and start grabbing people out of their homes who have been really good people living in this country and shipping them out of the country willy-nilly or taking away health care for millions of people. This is not what the party is.
He is exactly right and that is exactly the problem.   The GOP is no longer in tune with the founding ideals of the Republic.  They have become too PC and utopian, do-gooders much like the Left.

Lindsey Graham‏: If We Do Not Cut Taxes and Repeal Obamacare ‘We Are Dead’:

FSunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Sen. Lindsey Graham‏ (R-SC) said if Republican legislators did not follow through with their promises they “are dead.” When asked if Congress was going to pass tax reform Graham‏ said, “‏If we don’t we are dead.” He continued, “If we don’t cut taxes and we don’t eventually repeal and replace Obamacare then we’re going to lose across the board the house in 2018. And all of my colleagues running in primaries in 2018 will probably get beat. It will be the end of Mitch McConnell we know it. That is a symptom of a greater problem. If we do cut taxes and repeal and replace Obamacare it doesn’t matter what Bannon does because we’ll win.” He continued, “Mitch McConnell is not our problem. Our problem that we promised to repeal and replace Obamacare and we failed. We promised to cut taxes, and we’re yet to do it. If we’re successful Mitch McConnell is fine if not we’re all in trouble. We’ll lose our majority, and I think President Trump will not get reelected.”
In an earlier post, I predicted that Trump was playing golf with Graham to persuade him to support his agenda.  Now, this.

NATIONAL SECURITY’S MILLENNIAL PROBLEM. “What ties Winner, Snowden and Manning together is their be…:

NATIONAL SECURITY’S MILLENNIAL PROBLEM. “What ties Winner, Snowden and Manning together is their belief that laws on protecting classified information didn’t apply to them. Some sort of imaginary public ‘need to know’ what they learned through their jobs motivated them to leak secrets—with themselves as the sole arbiters of what the public should find out. . . . There’s plenty of blame to go around in the Winner, Snowden, and Manning cases, above all on a failed counterintelligence system that granted high-level security clearances to people who were clearly psychologically unfit to hold them. Yet that does not absolve the criminals here, and it’s impossible to miss that they’re all Millennials too. . . . The Millennial generation, or at least a portion of it, includes Americans who seemingly reject centuries of understanding about why state secrets must be kept. Blame ought not be placed entirely on such Millennials, who after all were raised to reject many of our nation’s core values.”
Well, there are leakers and there are whistleblowers. The former are dangerous, but the latter are the only reason the national security establishment might possibly be trustworthy. I wrote on this a while back.
"who after all were raised to reject many of our nation’s core values.”.  Who taught them this?  Who raised them to believe this?  The school system and the information system all run by the Left intentionally corrupting the future citizens.  This did not happen by accident.  This is the Left trying to subvert the Republic.

Leftists and the Jews | Frontpage Mag:

America has done more uplifting of humanity and promotion of freedom than any other country in the history of this planet. We Jews have been blessed beyond our wildest fantasies, enjoying her gifts, her bounty, her grace but we must step away from what is happening and not be seduced by a deceitful, pandering mirage. The Left is not our friend, not as Americans and not as Jews.
Freedom courses through our blood. It throbs in our soul.
It is no accident that on the Liberty Bell are written the words from our Torah, “Ukratem dror ba’aretz” (“Proclaim liberty throughout the land and to all the inhabitants thereof”). The treasure that is America and the poetry that is Judaism are joined together in a hallowed union that rang across spacious skies, fruited plains and majestic purple mountains.
We are good folks and must see beyond the moral bankruptcy, the hypocrisy, the lies, the hatred and the calamity of an ascendant Left.
My friends, Charlottesville is the price of freedom and squaw is a real word.

Yes, Trump is Winning – American Greatness:

There’s a disturbance in the bubble. What just happened to the NFL and Hollywood is happening in many other avenues of our culture. Sometimes, when a thunderstorm is nigh, the wind suddenly shifts and picks up, the birds get nervous, and you can feel the storm arriving before the rain actually starts. I believe that is about to happen in American culture, though who exactly will be left standing out in the rain is a little unclear. I do expect, however, that fewer and fewer redoubts of anti- or NeverTrump complacency will remain as his policies continue to deliver winning scenarios for Americans. Maybe the next time I go to that club there will be less Mussolini and more comity.

This is a very, very good article.  Read the whole thing.

Mark Steyn: Harvey Weinstein Avoidance of Criminal Charges 'Banana Republic Political Corruption' - Breitbart

Mark Steyn: Harvey Weinstein Avoidance of Criminal Charges 'Banana Republic Political Corruption' - Breitbart:

Saturday on Fox News Channel’s “Justice,” conservative commentator Mark Steyn criticized the system that had allowed embattled Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinsteinto avoid any consequencesof sexual harassment allegations dating back to the 1980s.

Steyn toldhost Jeanine Pirro spending money on a Weinstein movie was the equivalent of buying “blood diamonds” in Africa.

“[T]hat’s banana republic political corruption,” Steyn said.
The decay of the Republic is quite amazing.  I knew, years ago, that feminism was off the rails.  I knew that Bill Clinton was a liar and a predator and we failed to hold him accountable and that was a serious disturbance in the force.  I knew that Hollywood was not right and I stopped watching movies years ago.  I knew big sports was not right and I stopped watching them years ago.  What I did not realize, until recently, was how corrupted the GOP is and how corrupted the governmental agencies are.  Mark Steyn is absolutely correct - Banana Republic.

Caroline Glick on Tinseltown

Caroline Glick is a world-class journalist. I am a bit more cynical than her.  I don't watch any movies.  I quit supporting them just like I quit supporting professional sports years ago.  The article below is from her Facebook page.
Harvey Weinstein is a disgusting pervert in a town full of disgusting perverts. If the Hollywood types want to burn their own house down, I'm all for getting out the popcorn and soda pop, turning down the lights and watching the show. It's like watching a prison fight. May the best convicted felon win!I am cynical about what is happening because I really don't care that much. I never thought of any of these people as anything but preening, self-congratulatory attention hounds to begin with. Long gone are those days when stars in Hollywood stood for anything meaningful. I don't remember ever admiring any of them on a personal level. I just liked to watch them act, if they are good actors, or tell jokes, if they are funny, or wear cool clothes if they are beautiful.
Which brings me to the Justice League and Ben-the-groper-Harvey-Weinstein-Al-Gore-friend Affleck. Since I took my kids to Wonder Woman in the spring, we have been looking forward to that movie coming out.
I think that Ben Affleck is a fine actor. I liked him in Good Will Hunting. I liked him in Argo. I'm sure I saw him in other ones that I don't remember and was never put off by him.
I couldn't care less that he is a jerk. Or was a jerk. Or whatever. I assume that he's up to the job of playing Batman well enough and again, I PROMISED my kids we are seeing the movie when it comes out.
If anything good at all come from this new episode of moralistic arson from the Hollywood types, maybe they will preach less to us and have merit and talent play slightly larger roles in determining who gets to be in movies and who doesn't.
I'm not expecting for Hollywood to finally quit blacklisting conservatives. I harbor no delusions that one day a major studio will produce a serious Jack Ryan type movie on jihad. There are no miracles in Tinseltown in 2017.
But while I'm happy to chomp on my popcorn and watch the roof fall in, I do feel it necessary to take a stand. I promised my kids Justice League. Affleck is an actor. I don't care that he's a jerk. We're not having him over for dinner and I want to keep my promise.

Boom!!  I don't think anyone has said that out loud before.  Let that sink in.   Then think about Google, et al.  It's information manipulation extraordinaire.  Actually, I'll say that a little differently.  It's people manipulation extraordinaire, by controlling information.

Stetson University's Dr. Chris Ferguson argues South Korea's law regarding the Internet usage of minors has had negligible positive effects on their health in comparison to its heavy constraint on personal freedoms.
Just to prove my point from the prior article.  In this article, controlling their access has negligible effect in changing theri behavior. and the side effect is a heavy constraint on personal freedom.

School District Bans ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ Over ‘Uncomfortable Language’:

Day by day, Snowflakes and Social Justice Warriors are erasing American history and culture from our education system. The classic ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ is the latest target. The book was recently pulled because its language makes people uneasy.

Administrators at the Biloxi School District announced early this week they were pulling the novel from the 8th-grade curriculum, saying they received compaints that some of the book’s language “makes people uncomfortable.”
The Sun Herald reported that the book was pulled from the lesson plan because the novel contained “the N word.”
A message on the school’s website says “To Kill A Mockingbird” teaches students that compassion and empathy don’t depend upon race or education.
School board vice president Kenny Holloway says other books can teach the same lessons.

In the story, Atticus defended Tom Robinson, a black man who was accused of raping Mayella Ewell, a young white woman. Despite strong evidence of Robinson’s innocence, he was found guilty of raping Ewell.
‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ was famously adapted into a movie in 1962. The film starred Gregory Peck as the book’s main character Atticus Finch.

This is more of the misguided Left's attempts to control the world to their liking.  But, it's impossible to control everything.  The costs are enormous and the system turns out to be so brutal that people lose all freedom as a result of what started out as book control or maybe gun control.   Yet, they persist.  It seems that societies come and go and evolve through these phases of insanity even though it's historically recorded that this is exactly what happens when you behave this way.  DENIAL.

WTH? Fox and ESPN Won’t Show Anthem Live Anymore

Fox and ESPN think they can squash the NFL protest controversy by not airing the National Anthem live this weekend. The networks no longer have a monopoly on how the news is dispersed. Footage of players kneeling and or staying in the locker room during the Anthem will be posted on social media for the world to see.
ESPN and Fox will not air the Anthem live this weekend according to a CNN report.
The networks didn’t air the National Anthem last week in an attempt to put out the fires, however; we the people still saw what they were up to because Vice President Mike Pence walked out of the Indianapolis Colts-San Francisco 49ers game Sunday after 49ers players decided to kneel during the Anthem.
As previously reported, Roger Goodell issued a statement on Tuesday saying the league believes everyone should stand during the national anthem.NFL players were outraged on Wednesday that there will be no more sitting, kneeling or stretching during the national anthem.
GOODELL THEN FOLDED!The NFL announced Friday that it is not seeking a mandate to force players to stand for the National Anthem. The NFL hit a new low last Monday night — in ratings.
Monday’s night game was down double-digits from last year’s game.
Thursday night football ratings were also down.
The NFL is hurting as the disrespect of the national anthem continues.
Fans are burning gear, sponsors are dropping and stadiums are sparse; the NFL is done.
This controversy is not going away. Americans will continue to boycott the NFL; networks can’t stop the boycott by simply refusing to air the players kneeling. Do they really think we are that stupid?

Donald Trump & Kirstjen Nielsen -- Homeland Security Nomination Deserves Praise | National Review

Donald Trump & Kirstjen Nielsen -- Homeland Security Nomination Deserves Praise | National Review:

Donald Trump announced yesterday that he has nominated Kirstjen Nielsen as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, filling the position vacated by John Kelly, who left DHS in order to serve as the president’s chief of staff. Nielsen served as Kelly’s deputy at DHS and went to the White House with him after Reince Priebus’s departure in July.

This move has yet to merit a single glowing report from the mainstream media or from left-wing pundits and politicians who love to praise powerful women — at least when those women are progressive. Nielsen’s nomination is just the latest instance of this double standard in action.

Modern feminism is a scam.  They refuse to support this female nominee or to give Trump credit for it.  Apparently, she is some kind of non-female female.  She doesn't fit their narrow, cult-like agenda.

The media remains so caught up with the president’s tweets that it has missed Mr. Trump’s project to transform the rest of the federal judiciary. The president is stocking the courts with a class of brilliant young textualists bearing little relation to even their Reagan or Bush predecessors. Mr. Trump’s nastygrams to Bob Corker will be a distant memory next week. Notre Dame law professor Amy Coney Barrett’s influence on the Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals could still be going strong 40 years from now.

Mr. Trump has now nominated nearly 60 judges, filling more vacancies than Barack Obama did in his entire first year. There are another 160 court openings, allowing Mr. Trump to flip or further consolidate conservative majorities on the circuit courts that have the final say on 99% of federal legal disputes.

More great progress that will influence the judiciary for decades to come.

Vox Popoli: Dismantling Obama

Vox Popoli: Dismantling Obama:

On a not-necessarily-entirely-unrelated note, one thought that occurs to me about the Weinstein situation is that the chans have been buzzing for weeks about an imminent, and decisive, move by the God-Emperor against the bi-factional ruling party and the deep bureaucracy. Now, this could be nothing more than wishful thinking on their part, but I had been already wondering what the true purpose of the NFL attack could be, other than shoring up his public support, since it was so obviously a major distraction for the media and the public alike. Now I'm wondering if it might have been to set the stage for the coming revelations that are said to be "beyond massive".

An interesting consequence of the Weinstein case is the way in which it has prepared the public to find revelations an almost unthinkable degree of corruption and evil in powerful places to be credible. If the God-Emperor is going to go nuclear on his establishment enemies, the planets would appear to be in a favorable alignment.
Trump continues to make great progress.  It is more than just dismantling Obama but he is shifting the control of our culture back to common Americans.

Report: Renewable Energy Is Bigger ‘Scam’ than Bernie Madoff and Enron:

While sinking enormous financial resources into propping up renewable energy prospectors, national governments are providing no perceptible benefits to their citizens, writes Judith Sloan, a renowned Australian economist who has served on the Australian government’s Productivity Commission.

“With very few exceptions, governments all over the world have fallen into the trap of paying renewable energy scammers on the basis that it is necessary, at least politically, to be seen to be doing something about climate change,” Sloan writes, before providing readers with an avalanche of economic data to back up her assertion.

Another myth may finally be on the way out.

The company knew

The company knew:  So much for the protestations of innocence.

Harvey's brother and fellow co-founder Bob Weinstein, as well as the company's president, David Glasser, had told concerned staff as recently as Tuesday that they were shocked and unaware of the confidential settlements made with various women.

However, according to a clause in his 2015 contract, if the movie mogul was charged with sexual harassment he was in charge of all legal payouts and had to pay an additional fine to the company.

'You [Weinstein] will pay the company liquidated damages of $250,000 for the first such instance, $500,000 for the second such instance, $750,000 for the third such instance, and $1,000,000 for each additional instance,' the contract reads.

According to the document, as long as Weinstein pays it constitutes a 'cure' for any misconduct and no further action can or will be taken.

In more simple terms, that means that no matter how many times he is sued - as long as he is willing to pay he won't be fired.

If Weinstein were to ever be indicted for a crime the contract contains language that would allow the Board of Directors to fire him.
No, but you see, it was only "to cover consensual affairs." Sure it was. Good luck trying to hold that line of defense.

From Ancient Times to the Present: Transferring Guilt Makes a Mockery of Justice

From Ancient Times to the Present: Transferring Guilt Makes a Mockery of Justice:

One of the foundations of modern ethics is crumbling. Having rights is about being respected as a human individual who shapes his or her life through choices. Whether with respect to original sin, honour based violence, the burqa, or ‘burkini’, ‘incitement’ to violence, or white guilt—the transference of moral responsibility from individual moral agents to others, or from others to the individual, makes a mockery of justice. Either we are responsible for our own behaviour or we are not. Imagine how wonderful it would be if we could all take credit for other peoples’ good deeds. But we cannot, and we do not because only the moral agent responsible for the act deserves praise—or conversely, blame.
...

Each of us knows, with agonizing certainty, that we have inescapable choices to make. No amount of duress, regardless how severe, can really force us to choose against our will. If we give in to the torturer it is because we choose to end our own suffering—even if it means throwing someone else under the bus—as Winston finally does to Julia in George Orwell’s dystopian 1984. A horrible choice is nevertheless a choice. If this were not the case then we would feel no guilt for our choices. But taking on responsibility for other people’s choices is just as weak as pretending that we have none for our own.
This is a long article about guilt and personal choice and personal responsibility.  I have highlighted the first and last paragraphs above.  I think this is important because this failure to understand guilt properly and to be personally responsible is a root issue of the Left.

Sweden's Sexual Assault Crisis Presents a Feminist Paradox - Quillette

Sweden's Sexual Assault Crisis Presents a Feminist Paradox - Quillette:

But while Swedish women rank among the most equal in the world, they increasingly fear for their physical safety on the streets. Reported sex crimes increased by 61 percent between 2007 and 2016. Meanwhile a rise in gang violence among men–the number of victims injured by gunshots increased by 50 percent between 2004 and 2016–indirectly affects the safety of women. Police admit that rape cases are piling up without being investigated because resources are being drained by gang violence and shootings.
Doesn't this perfectly illustrate the Liberal insanity and the lies they tell themselves?  How can women be more equal while they are being assaulted and raped in the streets?

“People call us and tell us some misappropriation of some goods and supplies by supposedly politicians, not necessarily mayors, but people that work for the mayors in certain towns,” FBI Special Agent Carlos Osorio told The Daily Caller Wednesday.

Osorio explained, “They’re supposedly withholding these goods and these supplies and instead of handing them out to people who really need them, [there are claims] that [local officials] are assigning them to their buddies first–people that have voted for them or people that contributed to their campaigns or what not.”

He added, “So what we’re doing is looking into these allegations. That I can tell you is happening. Again, I cannot say that we have any ongoing investigation. We’re just corroborating these allegations.”
I would hope there’s nothing to these allegations, but if there is: Tar, feathers.

Meet the Fastest-Growing Christian Group in America | Intellectual Takeout:

INC Christianity is a movement to watch because we think it will continue to draw adherents in large numbers in the future. It will produce a growing number of Christians who see their goal not just as saving souls but as transforming society by taking control over its institutions.

We see the likelihood of INC Christians taking over the “seven mountains of culture” as slim. However, we also believe that this movement is sure to shake up the religious and political landscape for generations to come.
I think getting back to our Judeo-Christian roots is a good thing.  I'm not partial to most organized religion but I think the fundamental morals and ethics taught by the Judeo-Christan tradition coupled with some sense that man's ego is not supreme, is the correct approach.

Power Corrupts: A Culture of Compliance Breeds Despots and Predators | The Daily Bell:

As I point out in my bookBattlefield America: The War on the American People, I’m not just talking about the political predators in office, but the ones who are running the show behind the scenes—the shadow government—comprised of unelected government bureaucrats whose powers are unaffected by elections, unaltered by populist movements, and beyond the reach of the law.

There is no way to erase the scars left by the government’s greed for money and power, its disregard for human life, its corruption and graft, its pollution of the environment, its reliance on excessive force in order to ensure compliance, its covert activities, its illegal surveillance, and its blatant disdain for the rule of law.

“We the people”—men and women alike— have been victims of the police state for so long that not many Americans even remember what it is to be truly free anymore. Worse, few want to shoulder the responsibility that goes along with maintaining freedom.

Still, we must try.

Open Letter to the NFL

Passed on from a friend.  Don't know the original source.

An open letter to the NFL players...well said, and great comparison.  You graduated high school in 2011.  Your teenage years were a struggle.  You grew up on the wrong side of the tracks.  Your mother was the leader of the family and worked tirelessly to keep a roof over your head and food on your plate.  Academics were a struggle for you and your grades were mediocre at best. The only thing that made you stand out is you weighed 225 lbs and could run 40 yards in 4.2 seconds while carrying a football.   Your best friend was just like you, except he didn’t play football.  Instead of going to football practice after school, he went to work at McDonalds for minimum wage.  You were recruited by all the big colleges and spent every weekend of your senior year making visits to universities where coaches and boosters tried to convince you their school was best.  They laid out the red carpet for you. Your best friend worked double shifts at Mickey D’s.  College was not an option for him.  On the day you signed with Big State University, your best friend signed paperwork with his Army recruiter.  You went to summer workouts.  He went to basic training. You spent the next four years living in the athletic dorm, eating at the training table. You spent your Saturdays on the football field, cheered on by adoring fans.  Tutors attended to your every academic need.  You attended class when you felt like it. Sure, you worked hard.  You lifted weights, ran sprints, studied plays, and soon became one of the top football players in the country.  Your best friend was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. While you were in college, he deployed to Iraq once and Afghanistan twice.  He became a Sergeant and led a squad of 19 year old soldiers who grew up just like he did.  He shed his blood in Afghanistan and watched young American's give their lives, limbs, and innocence for the USA.You went to the NFL combine and scored off the charts.  You hired an agent and waited for draft day.  You were drafted in the first round and your agent immediately went to work, ensuring that you received the most money possible. You signed for $16 million, half of which is guaranteed, although you had never played a single down of professional football.  Your best friend re-enlisted in the Army for four more years. As a combat tested sergeant, he will be paid $32,000 per year. You will drive a Ferrari on the streets of South Beach.  He will ride in the back of a Blackhawk helicopter with 10 other combat loaded soldiers.  You will sleep at the Ritz.  He will dig a hole in the ground and try to sleep.  You will “make it rain” in the club.  He will pray for rain as the temperature reaches 110 degrees. On Sunday, you will run into a stadium as tens of thousands of fans cheer and yell your name.  For your best friend, there is little difference between Sunday and any other day of the week.  There are no adoring fans.  There are only people trying to kill him and his soldiers. Every now and then, he and his soldiers leave the front lines and “go to the rear” to rest.  He might be lucky enough to catch an NFL game on TV.  When the National Anthem plays and you take a knee, he will jump to his feet and salute the television.  While you protest the unfairness of life in the United States, he will give thanks to God that he has the honor of defending his great country. To the players of the NFL:  We are the people who buy your tickets, watch you on TV, and wear your jerseys.  We anxiously wait for Sundays so we can cheer for you and marvel at your athleticism. Although we love to watch you play, we care little about your opinions until you offend us. You have the absolute right to express yourselves, but we have the absolute right to boycott you.  We have tolerated your drug use and DUIs, your domestic violence, and your vulgar displays of wealth.  We should be ashamed for putting our admiration of your physical skills before what is morally right.  But now you have gone too far. You have insulted our flag, our country, our soldiers, our police officers, and our veterans. You are living the American dream, yet you disparage our great country.  I am done with NFL football and encourage all like minded Americans to boycott the NFL as well. National boycott of the NFL for Sunday November 12th, Veterans Day Weekend. Boycott all football telecast, all fans, all ticket holders, stay away from attending any games, let them play to empty stadiums. Pass this post along to all your friends and family. Honor our military, some of whom come home with the American Flag draped over their coffin.

IT HAS FOR A LONG TIME: Kurdistan Deserves U.S. Support. Here Is Why.

Francis Rooney:

Asserting that an independent Kurdistan would impede efforts to defeat radical Islam depreciates the Kurds’ current contributions to that very cause and seems to excessively defer to the Iraqi government. A strong and independent Kurdistan might actually strengthen our efforts by reinforcing the role of the Peshmerga, the Kurdish fighting force, as a full-fledged participant in the coalition opposing the Islamic State.

In a similar vein, the Kurds might help reconcile Islam with 21st Century values. Contrary to what we see throughout much of the Middle East, Kurds have promoted a secular brand of Islam in which church is separated from state and many different religions flourish. Drawing Muslims into a tolerant and secular interpretation of the Koran is a critical element in reducing radicalization and Islam-inspired violence. Pope Benedict XVI launched this argument in his well-known address at Regensburg in 2006, where he stressed the need for a modern construction of Islam that can peacefully and tolerantly co-exist with the rest of the world.

Furthermore, an independent Kurdistan would establish another countering force to Iran’s quest for hegemony in the Middle East. An independent Kurdistan securely aligned with the United States would undermine, or at least influence, the Shiite nexus Iran has created among Hezbollah, the Shiite-dominated government of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in Iraq, and Bashar al-Assad’s Syria.
More than that, even a rump Kurdistan carved out of just northern Iraq (and perhaps also northeastern Syria) would be a thorn in Recep Erdogan’s side and a potentially existential threat to the Mullah’s regime in Iran.

I don't understand why we are being hesitant to support the Kurds.

BECKET ADAMS: Hollywood is brave so long as the targets are easy.

Everything about the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal is shocking.

From the number of alleged victims, to the high-profile celebrities who say they were abused by the Hollywood heavyweight, there’s nothing about this story that doesn’t leave one stunned.

What isn’t shocking, however, is that the entertainment industry, whose members pride themselves on their supposed courage, is full of cowards.

As details of Weinstein’s behavior continue to emerge — and they are getting worse by the day — one question continues to overshadow all the rest: How was this allowed to go on for so long when so many people apparently knew about it?

By some accounts, Weinstein’s reported abuse dates back to at least the late 1980s. These same accounts also say the producer’s vile behavior was well-known within the industry. So well-known, in fact, that it was considered Hollywood’s biggest “open secret.” His behavior was even the subject of a sly punchline in 2013 during the Academy Award nominee announcements.

Yet, here we are in 2017, and Weinstein is only now being made to answer for his actions.

It’s one thing for the victims to remain silent, usually because they feel intimidated. That is common for the abused, and you won’t find any criticism of Weinstein’s targets here. But what about the many celebrities and Hollywood operatives who were in on the joke, who have come forward since the damn burst to allege that most of the industry knew about Weinstein? Actors knew. Actresses knew. Other producers knew. People in the press knew.
Not just cowards, but worse. Being in the know made them feel special. They were complicit.

Deeply disturbing human cult behavior, but not surprising.  This is what happens when we get separated from God.

WELL, THIS IS THE 21ST CENTURY, YOU KNOW: Armed Ground Robots Could Join the Ukrainian Conflict Next Year.

Ukrainian military leaders and defense industry officials showed off their experimental Phantom robot on Monday at the Association of the U.S. Army show in Washington, D.C. It has an extendable frame that can be outfitted with treads like a tank or with six wheels, and armed with anti-tank weapons, grenade launchers, or machine guns. Currently in testing, the Phantom could be sent into action against Russian-backed forces as early as next year, they said.

Russia, too, has a wide array of ground bots it could dispatch to the conflict, though Moscow has not signaled its readiness to do that. But Russian drones of the flying variety have been used to tremendous effect there. They identify enemy positions to target fires. They hijack cell-tower signals to deliver false messages and texts, an effect experienced by Ukrainian soldiers and even NATO soldiers outside the country.
There’s video of the Phantom at the link, which doesn’t look much more dangerous than an RC car.
Bot technology will continue to escalate and replace humans everywhere.  Machines are much better at certain kinds of work.

KURT SCHLICHTER: BEHOLD OUR BETTERS:

To be a normal American is to constantly be scolded, to be lectured, to be treated as a morally bankrupt simpleton in need of the guidance and direction provided by an urban elite ruling class notable for its empty academic credentials, its track record of incompetence, and its idolization of people who erotically abuse the foliage.

If we are to have betters, is it so wrong for us to demand that they actually be better? Superiors should be distinguished by their superiority – if you presume to take charge shouldn’t you demonstrate tactical, technical, and moral mastery? So what has our ruling class mastered lately? What is the skill set that sets the smart set apart?
Fiddling the rules so that they come out on top, mostly. Oh, and self-righteousness.
This why common sense Americans have finally had enough and Trump is the instrument that is "trumpeting" the message.

INSTITUTIONAL ROT IS EVERYWHERE: Former West Point professor’s letter exposes corruption, cheating and failing standards.

This letter is spreading like wildfire.  Still hard to know what the bottom line is.  While I suspect at least some of it is true and perhaps much of it is true, no one else has yet offered a supporting view.  I don't know if that means this guy is a bit off or no one is willing to buck the system.  Stay tuned.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Democrats’ IT scandal just got even more bizarre. The press is giving this story the kind of loving attention that NBC gave to the Harvey Weinstein story.

Another big cover-up in progress.

EXPLAINS A LOT: Secret pharmacy serving Congress delivers Alzheimer’s drugs: “It makes you kind of sit back and say, ‘Wow, they’re making the highest laws of the land and they might not even remember what happened yesterday.’”

That they may be struggling with Alzheimers is certainly a problem worth considering, but what strikes me more importantly about this, is that they are lying to us.  They are dishonest and live in their elite world as if they are a protected species and can act any way they want to.

CREEPY: Harvey Weinstein’s Wife Turns To Mrs. Anthony Weiner, Huma Abedin, For Support:

Just when you think this story can't get any weirder, boom, it gets weirder.
The Left lives in a secluded bubble.  They talk to each other and believe they know what is going on, but they are isolated and disconnected from reality and they just lie to themselves and each other.

Crisis of the Elites :: SteynOnline

Crisis of the Elites :: SteynOnline

And yet the genius of liberal, progressive, Democrat Hollywood is that, under Harvey Weinstein and his pals, it can reduce powerful, successful women to the level of the poorest, most vulnerable, minimum-wage entry-level worker in Slick Willie's Arkansas state bureaucracy. Congratulations, feminists. The lies you told yourselves during the Clinton era really paid off.
