Suppression of Free Speech in Academia Is Out of Control | Cato Institute

Hostility to the exercise of free speech on American college campuses is nothing new. But what happened at Yale University, the University of Missouri and other colleges over the past two weeks is something new and frightening. The suppression of speech in academia has begun to spiral out of control.
 

So, how did we arrive at this place where some people think they have a right to not being offended?  How did that happen?  When did we become so helpless that we are unable to properly engage in give and take of open discussion and require "safe zones"?  How did that happen?
