To get gigabit speeds, we need fiber running all over the place. Fortunately, fiber optics is glass, basically melted down sand. Plenty of that to go around. Instead of arguing about broadband speeds or invented problems like “net neutrality,” we ought to be focused on the regulations and cronyism that impede running fiber on our poles and under our roads and lawns.

He later told The New York Times, "If PEN as a free speech organization can't defend and celebrate people who have been murdered for drawing pictures, then frankly the organization is not worth the name.
“Government discourages work. Welfare consists of dozens of different and overlapping federal and state income support programs. A recent Census Bureau study found more than 100 million Americans collecting a government check or benefit each month, adds Heritage Foundation economist Stephen Moore. Moreover, “public school systems often fail to teach kids basic skills,” he says. “We ?have schools that now concentrate more on ethnic studies and tolerance training than teaching kids how to use a lathe or a graphic design tool.”

President Obama’s surrender to the Iranian dictatorship is based on the same mistake Chamberlain and his predecessor made about Hitler–and the same false analysis that required them to lie about Hitler’s rearmament program and then abandon allies in efforts to appease an aggressive, evil regime. When dealing with a regime that is fully prepared to enforce its will, appeasement doesn’t make us safer. It makes the world much more dangerous. President Obama’s surrender to Iran is the biggest undermining of American national security since President James Buchanan failed to oppose and repress seceding southern states in 1860 and allowed federal forts to fall into confederate hands. Buchanan’s timidity, confusion, and lack of firmness enabled southern radicals to feel emboldened and to begin arming militia who would end up fighting the union in a few months. The Obama Administration is clearly surrendering on virtually every aspect of Iranian policy. The Iranians have been publicly humiliating the President and the Secretary of State by ridiculing American claims about the agreement.
Now it may be that the "other"expenses are directly benefiting someone but the numbers here are not encouraging. There are a number of sham charities out there whose income goes mostly to supporting the lifestyle of their directors and employees so that they can make good money but simultaneously be self-righteous. I do not know that this is the case here but I think you can be pretty sure the reason they get most of their donations is to curry favor with the Clintons rather than because the organization is particularly efficient or adept at deploying charitable resources
All over the world groups of human beings are being threatened, are under attack, or are being slaughtered for a variety of reasons – religion, ethnicity, nationality – but the nominal leader of the free world thinks the greatest challenge we face is the weather. In his weekly radio address on Saturday, President Obama proclaimed climate change our greatest national security threat – not ISIS, not Iran getting a nuclear bomb (they have pledged to use against Israel), not a resurgent Russia which is threatening European order, or an increasingly belligerent China.

Former Soviet political prisoner says US ‘lost the courage of its convictions’ by not requiring Tehran change its act as condition for a nuclear deal.
A video of an elderly woman with a thick southern drawl ranting about modern women, lazy men, and people who receive welfare is going viral. Mother Agnus, as the man behind the camera called her, is full of “old” and traditional values, and she strongly believes that men should work while women should raise families:
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren recently appeared on one of the late night talk shows, beating the class warfare drum and arguing for billions of dollars in new social programs paid for with higher taxes on millionaires and billionaires. In recent years, though, blue states such as California, Illinois, Delaware, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland and Minnesota adopted this very strategy, and they raised taxes on their wealthy residents. How did it work out? Almost all of these states lag behind the national average in growth of jobs and incomes.
The very notion of “gay marriage” is an artificial construct. It’s the aberrant byproduct of the sexual revolution, which, itself, was largely instigated by bug doctor turned “sexologist,” Alfred Kinsey. Alfred Kinsey Though married to a woman who took part in his many filmed “scientific” orgies, Kinsey was a promiscuous homosexual and sadomasochist. He managed to completely upend and twist the world’s perception of human sexuality in the 1950s and ’60s with his world famous “Kinsey Reports.” While his “research” has been universally discredited and exposed as fraudulent, ideologically motivated and even criminal, it remains, nonetheless, the primary source behind today’s “sexual orientation science.” For this reason, and many others, the novel notion of “gay marriage” sits atop a house of cards.
Newman says government schools “are quite literally designed to dumb down and indoctrinate students.” “This is an infinitely more serious crime than cheating on tests, yet the media, the education establishment, and the politicians that enable it refuse to discuss the matter – almost certainly because they are complicit in these crimes,” he said.
Newman thinks federal and state governments are stuck in an endless cycle of spending money on strategies that don’t work. But he believes the cycle will never end on its own because the powers-that-be don’t want American children to get smarter. “The educational establishment will never put a stop to it on its own,” he declared. “The American people need to find out what’s going on. They don’t need more billions, they need less billions, and they need to be exposed.”
Soon there may only be atheists in the foxholes. Christians are leaving the U.S. military or are discouraged from joining in the first place because of a “hostile work environment” that doesn’t let them express their beliefs openly, religious freedom advocates say. Michael Berry, senior counsel at the Liberty Institute, a Texas-based legal organization dedicated to defending religious liberty in America, said recent high-profile cases of military chaplains facing punishment for private counseling sessions that reflected the teachings of their religion could cause devout Americans who are qualified for military service to think twice about joining the military.

The program was sold as a “civil rights imperative” by the previous superintendent, John Deasy. In reality, it was just another bureaucratic excuse to throw away taxpayers’ money on education. The average liberal’s plan for improving our schools begins with “increase spending” and doesn’t flesh out much beyond that. The leftist core principle, after all, is that anything can be made better by bathing it in tax revenues. Childhood Santa Claus beliefs are more rooted in reality. Giving lower income students an increased access to technology that could help with education is not a bad thing in an of itself. It’s just that even the best ideas can be screwed up in a nanosecond once a bureaucracy gets to work on them. Deasy, it should be pointed out, was also the superintendent who was rewarding students for just showing up. This is the second largest and one of the worst school districts in America. It needs some fundamental change, not a shiny, expensive tech bandage on the problem to keep the people distracted for a while.
"Universities emulate greenhouses where fragile young adults are coddled as if they were hothouse orchids," says Victor Davis Hanson, who taught the classics at Fresno State University. "Hypersensitive students are warned about ‘micro-aggressions' that in the real world would be imperceptible."

No, it isn't "time for a woman to be president." It's time for a competent adult of either gender to be president.
Well, it isn’t time for a woman to be president. It also isn’t time for a man. It isn’t “time” for any particular race, ethnicity, or gender. It’s time, instead, for an honest and competent adult of any gender and any race and, at this point, any species.

When President-elect Obama declared that he was going to “fundamentally transform” America, not many Americans understood what that meant. They certainly did not understand that he did not believe in America’s exceptionalism and greatness. They were also unaware of his past Marxist indoctrination, blaming America for many of the world’s problems. Therefore, anything that undercuts and withdraws America’s power and influence is seen as being objectively progressive. This is fundamental to understanding why President Obama shows empathy with American’s enemies, e.g., Iran, Cuba, Russia, and China.

Free trade is a good moral concept for the simple reason that politicians and bureaucrats should not be allowed to interfere with voluntary transactions between consenting adults.
It’s also a good economic concept for the simple reason that protectionists can’t provide good answers to simple questions.
And free trade is a good geopolitical concept because it is far better than foreign aid as a mechanism for generating prosperity in less-developed nations.
Our contemporary immersion into political correctness and assumed “rights” regarding the basic building block of society has cumulatively, over the past few decades, steadily eroded not only our sociological strength, but our economic viability as a country. The fundamental significance of the family unit, and the hard data evidencing the undeniable importance of the intact nuclear family, have been ignored, and the longer we pander to bad public policy based in political correctness, the more rapidly our society will degenerate.
Attacking the establishment leftist media is attacking the real enemy of conservative values and policies. Openly attacking the leftist media establishment also places these giant corporations in a real bind. How will CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, and the sibling leftist news corporations react? Attacking the Republican Party validates the conservative argument. Combined attacks by these notional “competitors” would expose the monopolistic nature of leftist media collaboration in suppressing conservative news stories and proposals.
No one doubts these facts. Iran wants to dominate the Middle East. And it will not acknowledge the rights of the sovereign state of Israel. So the question is: Why is the U.S. not including political- and terrorist-restraint clauses in any Iran deal?
This is why economic sanctions are crucial. Western-nation sanctions are slowly but surely smashing the Iranian economy. We have effectively stopped the flow of money and oil for Iran. The Iranian budget, which dominates the state-run economy, needs $130 a barrel. Today's $50 price is an economic killer.
There is not, nor has there ever been, an Iran deal. The “framework” the president announced last week was just a stunt. As yet another negotiations deadline loomed with the president plainly unwilling to walk away despite Iranian intransigence, Congress appeared poised to end the farce by voting to stiffen sanctions. The “framework” is a feint designed to dissuade Congress and sustain the farce. In reality, what we have is simply an Obama administration assumption and a timetable. The assumption is that Iran will become a nuclear-weapons power. The timetable involves dragging out the enervating negotiations-to-nowhere for as long as it takes to inure Americans to the prospect of a nuclear Iran.
Finally, the greatest setback for cancer research and wonder treatments in modern times is Obamacare. That dismal law puts new taxes on the next generation of life-saving drugs, vaccines and medical devices. It may be the dumbest tax in history. Mr. President, if you want more of something, you don’t raise taxes on it, you cut them. Repealing these taxes is one small step Washington could take to accelerate the race for the cure and save millions of lives each year. What are we waiting for?

Finally, the federal government should hold universities fiscally accountable. The availability of federal grants should be pegged to a college's ability to hold annual tuition increases to the rate of inflation.
At this late date, only classically liberal solutions can address what have become illiberal problems.

Ending Religious Liberty Is the Goal of the Fascist LGBT Agenda | www.independentsentinel.com: The LGBT bullies are not representative of mainstream gays but they are very powerful. Their agenda, which is becoming clear, is to eliminate religious freedom in order to win full acceptance. There is also a wider goal to damage Republicans in the election.

Laurence Tribe | Harvard | EPA | Peabody | coal industry: The idea that The Government© should not be allowed to do something to advance a progressive policy isn’t just controversial. In terms of academia, it’s apostasy.
Hmmmmm. Is the dike beginning to spring a leak? Are some Elites actually starting to look at reality?

Taxpayers should no longer prop up money-loser Amtrak: Amtrak employees average wages of over $41 an hour, or roughly four times as much as their counterparts doing the same work for privately contracted companies. Amtrak’s food and beverage services loses millions annually, and worse still the company has accrued roughly one billion dollars in non-federal debt for which it has been unable to negotiate favorable terms of repayment.
Taxpayers bear the cost of all these expenses. But so long as taxpayers, through the Federal Government, stand ready to guarantee these funds, Amtrak in truth does not have to minimize these expenses or maximize profits the way a normal business would because it lacks the incentives of a normal business.Guaranteed government income, regardless of performance, guarantees a lack of productivity.
Toothless congressional mandates demanding that Amtrak make its services and operations profitable have all failed. The only effective means of ensuring that a business do its utmost to return value to its investors, in this case the American people, is by ensuring that its only other alternative is failure and dissolution.
