Obama cultivating a fourth branch of government

M.D. Harmon: Obama cultivating a fourth branch of government | The Portland Press Herald / Maine Sunday Telegram: "It turns out the Founders’ ideal was entirely dependent on the willingness of the leaders we elected to honor it.

Thus, those boundaries were far more fragile than they appeared. They have been weakening for decades under progressive legal theories, and all it took was the election of a president with absolutely no regard for them to send them finally toppling.

Child Sexual Grooming in UK 91% Muslim Men

FOUSESQUAWK: Child Sexual Grooming in UK: "In the below video Gavin Boby is interviewed by Sun News about the widespread practice of child sexual grooming in the UK. (Yes, it is widespread. There have been numerous prosecutions across the UK and an estimated 10,000 victims.) It involves organized gangs of men who prey on young white British girls, forcing them into prostitution. In 91% of the cases, the perpetrators are Muslim men. The below video is shocking. Sorry, Folks, but these are facts. Argue with them  if you will.

Obama Sues to Allow Illinois Muslims to Skip Work W/O Being Fired | Wizbang: "So, Muslims can refuse to do work claiming religious objections and escape from being fired for their refusal and that is freedom of religion, but if Christians try anything similar, they are attacked, called names, and forced to violate their religion anyway under penalty of law.

So, now, as far as Obama is concerned, a Muslim can get a job here in the US, then claim he wants to stay employed even though he doesn’t want to do any of the work and Obama will force businesses to comply, because: Islam. In Obama’s America, employers will have to pay Muslims just to be Muslims.

No wonder people think Obama is a Muslim.

Mass immigration has left Britain 'unrecognisable'

Mass immigration has left Britain 'unrecognisable', says Nigel Farage - Telegraph: "Mass immigration has left Britain an "unrecognisable" country that many people would not want to leave to their children and grandchildren, Nigel Farage has said.
In one of his strongest attacks on immigration policy, he said the arrival of migrants has some British people feeling that parts of the country are now alien to them.
The UK Independence Party leader said parts of the country had been "taken over" by foreigners and told how he caught a recent commuter train from London to Kent and had to wait for several stops before he heard English being spoken.

We ignore this at our peril.  However, I am not hopeful.  We seem unable to learn from historical lessons and deny the reality that is happening before our very eyes.

Our Shredded Constitution, Part I: Free Exercise of Religion: "The combination of these toxic rulings leads to a perverse outcome: religious Americans cannot avoid neutral laws of general applicability, and yet religious Americans also cannot have a say in the laws of their communities, lest they violate separation of church and state. The natural effect is that laws are passed coercing religious people into violating their religious precepts.

Big Labor, Not Kochs, Spend The Big Cash In Politics: Politics: How can the Senate's top Democrat, Harry Reid, call the conservative Koch brothers "un-American" and accuse them of "trying to buy America" when dozens of their liberal counterparts spend a whole lot more? 'It's too bad that they're trying to buy America,"

The real crime here is that this money comes from the taxes you and I pay and is given to the unions through crony projects and contracts so they can then send your money to the Democrat party.  Ain't it grand?  This is a deep level of corruption that infected our society.  We are at the tipping point.

The veto of Arizona's religious freedom bill is alarming

BRUCE: The veto of Arizona's religious freedom bill is alarming - Washington Times: "Having been a liberal “community organizer” in my past, I immediately recognized the strategy being employed. This is an effort to condition the public into automatically equating faith with bigotry.

To make faith in the public square illegal and dangerous, you need legal cases and publicity. Voila, lawsuits against small business resting on the notion that acting on genuinely held faith is bigotry per se.

Under these rules, freedom of conscience is squashed under the jackboot of liberals, all in the Orwellian name of “equality and fairness.” Here we are dealing with not just forcing someone to do something for you, but forcing them in the process to violate a sacrament of their faith as well.

If we are able to coerce someone, via the threat of lawsuit and personal destruction, to provide a service, how is that not slavery? If we insist that you must violate your faith specifically in that slavish action, how is that not abject tyranny?

The State of the Tea Party 2014

The State of the Tea Party 2014 « Commentary Magazine: "What both conservatives and liberals often forget about the Tea Party is that the driving spirit of this movement is not so much Republican as it is one of rebellion against those who defend a Washington status quo that perpetuates a government tax and spending machine. The mainstream media sees the Tea Party as the embodiment of the Washington event at which, like all such conferences, an eclectic gathering of ordinary citizens network with political outliers. But the Tea Party that turned the 2010 midterms into a historic GOP landslide is more than a convention of grass roots activists. It is the expression of frustration with the inability of the political class to reform itself and preserve the vision of limited government promised in the Constitution.

The Vital Health Care Shift Nobody Is Talking About

The Vital Health Care Shift Nobody Is Talking About:

While politicians and wonks inside the Beltway bubble squabble over the GOP’s latest health care proposal, real change is coming, with or without DC’s help. This WSJ piece gives an excellent overview of the problems with the status quo (huge price fluctuation, lack on consumer information when shopping for care) and the momentum building behind the price transparency movement:

But states are increasingly requiring payers and providers to reveal that information. A few states specifically outlaw gag clauses in health-care contracts. Sixteen states have “all-payer claims databases” designed to collect insurance claims data and use it to monitor trends and identify high- and low-price providers. And some 38 states now require hospitals to report at least some pricing information, although only two—Massachusetts and New Hampshire—rated an “A” in Catalyst for Payment Reform’s annual report card for making the information accessible and usable by patients.

Meanwhile, entrepreneurs are sleuthing out negotiated rates from claims data and making them available to consumers and employers in various forms. Healthcare Bluebook aims to do for health care what the Kelley Blue Book does for used cars: It analyzes negotiated rates paid for thousands of medical services in every ZIP Code—supplied by employers and other clients—and posts what it considers a “fair” price for each so consumers can evaluate what they’re being charged.
Read the whole thing. Efforts like these will provide the real substance of health care reform for years to come. Politicians aren’t talking about these kinds of things because they’re not as splashy as federal policy. That means that media, in turn, isn’t as zeroed in on it as they could be (our thanks to the Journal for bucking this trend).

If we’re ever going to succeed in bending the health care cost curve, gradual reforms that make the system more competitive will be more important in the long-run than high-profile white noise legislation like Obamacare.

Can Federalism Work?

As much as I like the idea of reduced central government and decisions and control pushed closer to the electorate, comments in this article give me pause.

Arizona Debacle Another Unforced Error

The Arizona legislature is kind of like the state’s id. It routinely charges into battle without a plan, a map of the enemy territory, or the thought of logistical support. This goes for the right and left wings; thoughtful statesmen are quickly drummed out or drafted to a better gig. Legislators only earn $24K a year, so the role attracts passionate partisans with ample free time.

This doesn’t leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling about the ability of state legislatures to govern well.

PJ Media » New IRS Rules Called ‘Campaign Finance Regulation Disguised as Tax Regulation’: " A panel of experts said the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) targeting of conservative groups is just the latest in a series of attacks against political opponents of President Obama that date all the way back to 2008.

Kimberley Strassel, a columnist for the Wall Street Journal, said the IRS targeting scandal is only the latest type of political attack that ties directly to Obama’s campaign style before his presidency.

“The best way to look at this is as a continuum of a very long and determined political strategy that dates back to 2008 and a man named Barack Obama,” Strassel said.

Speaking at the Heritage Foundation on Friday, Strassel argued that “this is a president and his team of political operatives who have always understood the power of speech, but more importantly, the power of denying it to their political opponents.”"

Politicians Almost Never Act Like "Regular Folks"

Other politicians responsible for giving us Obamacare are just trying to change the subject. Here in North Carolina where I live, Senator Hagan avoided Obama when he visited the state recently and is running smiley face ads telling voters that she’s in favor of “investing in education.”
I cannot remember any instance when a politician owned up to a mistake and said to his constituents, “I supported that bill (or that war, or that appointment), but now I can see what a blunder it was. I’m sorry and will try to undo the damage I have caused.”
Politicians almost never admit their mistakes and correct them, which is an excellent reason why we should keep politics out of as much of life as possible.

It’s outrageous that they also get to decide who you’re customers must be, and how you must serve them.

We have a choice: we can have the government continue to peer inside our hearts and souls and attempt to prohibit and punish what it interprets to be “discrimination” and “bigotry,” or we can be a free nation where private property, freedom of association, and private enterprise are all respected and protected. We can sacrifice control and power to the State in hopes that it will stamp out hatred and racism across the land, or we can battle these evils ourselves, as a free and vigilant people.

This is not a false dichotomy. This is truly the choice before us.

Personally, I’d prefer the latter."

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Ridiculous ‘Hate Group’ List

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Ridiculous ‘Hate Group’ List | FrontPage Magazine: "The SPLC’s Hate Groups list is a cudgel, a tool for the use of Leftist enemies of the freedom of speech. When Pamela Geller or I or some other “hate group leader” is invited to speak somewhere, Leftists and Islamic supremacists avid to shut down honest discussion of jihad terror and Islamic supremacism contact the event organizers, tell them that the SPLC classifies us as “hate group leaders,” and all too often, ignorant or cowardly officials, unaware of or indifferent to how they’re being played and anxious to avoid “controversy,” cancel the event. It works like a charm, in just the way it was intended to work."

Rand Paul: Democrats Should Be ‘Embarrassed’ To Be Seen With Bill Clinton

Rand Paul: Democrats Should Be ‘Embarrassed’ To Be Seen With Bill Clinton « CBS DC: "Paul, who previously called Clinton a “serial philanderer,” thinks it’s a mistake for Democrats to view Clinton as some type of role model.
“I think really having him as some sort of role model for the Democrat Party, it’s something they ought to rethink because there are a lot of people who don’t agree with those kind of values,” Paul told Fox News.
Talking about Clinton’s appearance at Grimes’ rally, Paul said Democrats should return money he has raised and that they should be “embarrassed” to be seen with him.
“I think he’s a bad role model for the workplace, for women’s rights, for all of that, and I think really they ought to be a little embarrassed to be associated or being seen with him,” Paul stated.

Empower Black Parents With Vouchers

Empower Black Parents With Vouchers | Wizbang: "In a commentary titled “Solutions to Black Education”, Dr. Walter E. Williams writes the following:

“There is little that the political and education establishment will do about the grossly fraudulent education received by many black youngsters, and more money is not the answer. For example, according to findings by Cato Institute’s Andrew J. Coulson, Washington, D.C., spends $29,409 per pupil (http://tinyurl.com/mpc82dq). In terms of academic achievement, its students are nearly the nation’s worst. The average tuition for a K-12 Catholic school is $9,000, and for a nonsectarian private K-12 school, it is $16,000. A voucher system would empower black parents to remove their children from high-cost and low-quality public schools and enroll them in lower-cost and higher-quality nonpublic schools.”

Dr. Williams’ idea would work for black children who are trapped in poorly-performing public schools, but the teachers unions are opposed to school vouchers."

Progressivism as a Weapon of Mass Destruction

Articles: Progressivism as a Weapon of Mass Destruction: "Progressivism is merely the current euphemism for centralized power vested in a class of people who believe their own propaganda, or know it is a lie but tell it anyway. It is not enough merely to note that it has failed every time it has been tried. It must also be said that it has done irreparable damage to humanity wherever it has been practiced. Progressivism is human vice incarnate, the indulgence and celebration of the erasure of the constraints that human experience and wisdom have devised to limit evil. The name has been changed to protect the guilty.

Hugh Hewitt Rips the GOP A New One ("Tone Deaf, Insulated and Suicdal")

Hugh Hewitt Rips the GOP A New One ("Tone Deaf, Insulated and Suicdal"): I don't think the GOP understand the word "win" like you and I do.

"Again and again some sect of the D.C. GOP develops a sweeping policy proposal –in secret– unveils it to great expectations and the nods of Beltway elites, and then are shocked to find their base voters are adamantly opposed.  Again and again the chief sponsors of legislation refuse to listen to anyone not already inside their circles, and every time big Beltway interests distort the desires of party regulars. Again and again, shocked D.C. elites who were expecting acclaim get hit with a tidal wave of disdain."

"Every time the chief sponsors refuse to talk to the base via talk radio, key cable shows, or social media.  Every time they refuse to answer tough questions and engage the base in conversations before they unveil the New Coke.  And every time they pull a dead rabbit out of their hats and are shocked when talk radio and cable news audiences are appalled and angry and erupt on Twitter or other forums."

Why won't they deliver what conservative voters want?

America needs a third party.

Tax Reform at Last?

Dave Camp Plan: Tax Reform at Last?: "I’d prefer to see something closer to a pure flat tax with one tax rate, a postcard-sized return, and no double tax on saving and investment—much like what Steve Forbes proposed back in 1996. And there are some bad ideas buried in the Camp plan, such as a tax on the assets of big banks that received bailout funds in 2008-09. That seems more at home in the Obama redistribution budget than in a pro-growth tax reform vision.
But on balance, this is a gutsy and courageous first attempt to take on the beehive of special interests in Washington and grow the economy while making the tax system fairer and more comprehensible.
The tax system we have is absurd in the 21st century. It’s as if we were trying to operate our businesses and compete in global markets with clunky computers and an operating system built in 1985. If Republicans want to be the party of solutions, the party of growth, and the party of reform, they ought to rally behind the spirit of Mr. Camp’s initiative—and even make it bolder.

Veterans Affairs 'Falsifying Reported Wait-Times'

Veterans Affairs 'Falsifying Reported Wait-Times' | National Review Online: "Veterans Affairs and the NHS run slightly different, yes. But the principle is the same. And lets be blunt here: Veterans Affairs isn’t just a dysfunctional department but the blueprint for the system to which the Left would like to see everybody subjected. As the Examiner confirms,

the practice fits a long-standing pattern at VA of falsifying reported wait-times to make it appear individual medical centers are meeting department goals of ensuring patients get the medical care they need within the deadlines set by policy.

Performance reviews and bonuses of top hospital administrators are linked to meeting those goals.

"

The VA, sadly, is just another failed, socialist bureaucracy.  Our veterans are not treated well.  I used to volunteer at a VA hospital but not anymore.  They really are the perfect example of failed government programs.

What is the Arizona religious liberty law really about?

What is the Arizona religious liberty law really about? | Wintery Knight: "Look at it another way. Whose is forcing their values on whom? If the gay couple has to leave the store and go somewhere else, are they being forced by the state through trials and punishments to accept the traditional definition of marriage? Hell no. But Christians who are dragged in front of courts, forced to pay legal fees for both parties, forced to apologize, force to pay fines, and forced to participate in something they oppose are having someone else’s views forced on them. It used to be that the gay activists talked about tolerance. Where is their tolerance now? Where is their rainbow of diversity now? It’s very important to understand that the people on the gay rights side do not recognize Constitutional rights, and they are not tolerant of other people’s views. And they are willing to use the power of the government to force people to celebrate their sexuality.

Yet what that means in practice is very different from what most Americans would expect. It's always a shock to people when they first find out how Refugee Resettlement works. The Despicable Truth About Democrats

Millions of people have lost their insurance and millions have seen their premiums go up, while millions more have seen their deductibles go through the roof, yet the Democrats still have the audacity to call it the Affordable Care Act. The law was shoved down the throats of the American people with the claim that it will help the 40 million uninsured people get insurance, while the CBO says that 30 million people will still be uninsured years after it is implemented.

The American people are being taken for a ride, Obama has lied, his administration has lied and the Democrats have lied, why is there no outcry? Obama-Care, Benghazi, IRS, NSA all lies by Obama and his administration and the rest of the Democrats just follow like sheep. Four Americans died in the Benghazi attack, yet the Democrats say there is no scandal there and try to sweep it under the rug, but they attack Governor Christie on a daily basis because of a traffic jam on the George Washington Bridge, where are their priorities?

Ms. Boonstra said, “I am not lying. … I was lied to.” Well, I think she also speaks for the rest of the country, why can’t the Democrats admit that they were wrong? Loyalty is a great quality, but there comes a time when the Democrats have to face reality, Obama is a failed president with failed policies and what he is doing is harming America.

Christianity: Foundation of Western Success

At the core of Stark’s investigation is his argument that specific ideas innate to Judaism (especially that found in Diaspora Jewish communities) and Christianity played a pivotal role in enabling the West to make and sustain political, legal and economic breakthroughs that eluded other civilizations. First and foremost, Jews and Christians viewed God as a rational Creator. In that sense, God was not at all like the Greco-Roman deities—capricious, self-indulgent beings for the most part. Moreover, the Christians, from the very beginning, not only understood the need to reason out the implications of Christ’s teachings; they also viewed reason as the great gift which God gave man to know the truth about the Creator but also the world He created in order that humans might help unfold God’s design.

The second religious ingredient of the West’s success, Stark maintains, was Christianity’s unwillingness to attribute life’s ups-and-downs to fate. Unlike the pagan (and many contemporary) religions, the Jewish and Christian “conception of God is incompatible with fate” (p. 120). It is true, Stark writes, that particular pagans such as Cicero had a somewhat similar view of free will. The difference is that belief in free will was more than simply a philosophical tenet for Jews and Christians. It was also a matter of specific religious conviction, which meant, furthermore, that people could—and would—be held accountable for their free choices before the same rational God who had given them free will.

Why Hate is the Core of the Feminist Agenda

Why Hate is the Core of the Feminist Agenda - Conservative Hideout 2.0: "Feminist theory (and I am gravely insulting theories everywhere, even Ancient Astronaut theory, by making that comparison), as a part of Cultural Marxism, does not really seek to support, elevate, or alleviate any problem or ill.  It is not meant to correct problems, or even improve the life of a single human being (except from Women’s Studies professors).  It isn’t based on facts, logic, or anything any functional human being would see as remotely reasonable.  It is instead based on hate.  Hatred of marriage, hatred of nature, hatred of child-rearing, hatred of anything good or noble, and even hatred of self-all of these are at the core of feminism.  Feminist hate is therefore eagerly swallowed by disaffected people, allowing them to project their self-hatred onto a number of scapegoats.  It isn’t aimed at making things better; it is aimed at making things worse, by destroying all of our cultural institutions.

The Real Agenda Behind the Push for "Islamophobia"

How did this Islamophobia theory become mainstream and so popular? In North America there is already an existing sense of guilt – one might call this "white liberal guilt." It is a guilt that Christians have already built into their faith, and that other North Americans have been made aware of from their treatment of Natives; Canadians have guilt about residential schools and wartime internment of the Japanese; and the Europeans have guilt about having mistreated people in their colonies, as well as the complicity of many of their grandparents had with the Nazis in rounding up and sending Jews and others to their death during the German Third Reich.

The Islamists readily and eagerly build on this guilt when they play the "victimhood" card and join with some academics, who buy into that concept to build an highly profitable industry of the supposedly aggrieved called "Islamophobia."

Islamists have been successful in building the Islamophobia industry: it diverts attention from activities they would probably prefer not be noticed, such promoting sharia law in the West, stealth jihad and a push to implement a global Islamic Caliphate, among many others. Any non-Muslim who questions the Islamists' intentions to promote the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood is immediately slapped with an Islamophobia fatwa [religious opinion], thus rendering most well behaved and civil Westerners, silenced and apologetic.

This is not only racist but, for the most part, a form of emotional extortion intended to extract special concessions from well-meaning but gullible people the West.

Islamophobia is also a convenient pseudo-cause around which to whip up young followers: they are informed, whether true or not, that they have much to be aggrieved about and that the only solution is to close down free speech, demonize all who might have an opinion that differs from theirs or who ask "inconvenient" questions, and to start creating an authoritarian political movement in which they might feel a meaningful participant.

But in the long run it can only numb the minds and hearts of young Muslims growing up in the West, and destroy all spirit of enquiry and independent thinking -- as increasingly seems to be another of its objectives.

Obama Wages Racial Socialist War on White-Owned Corporations, Taxpayers

Obama Wages Racial Socialist War on White-Owned Corporations, Taxpayers | VDARE.com: "This is like something out of the new South Africa. What previous presidents of both parties variously tolerated or encouraged, Barack Obama accelerated. YRC and the Great American Bank Robberies are but two examples of the racial socialist destruction of the American economy. It can be argued that President Obama is just following the “Dreams From [His] Father,” as his Kenyan sire envisioned taxing white and Asian business and property owners (who then owned virtually all private property in Kenya) up to 100 percent of their revenues. [Problems Facing Our Socialism (PDF) by Barak H. Obama, East Africa Journal, July 1965.]

However, the all-American “intellectual” foundation for racial socialism is “disparate impact theory.” The Big Lie of Disparate Impact Theory is that the different races will perform equally in the economy and in society, absent discrimination. When the reality proves different, the only explanation permitted is white “racism.” Thus, the more money the government steals from white-owned firms, the more they claim they are healing the economy."

Let me make clear that I am not saying that every good American must believe in God. What I am saying, however, is that it is contrary to our founding principles to insist that government be hostile to religion. Or even to insist, as my court, alas, has done, that government cannot favor religion over non-religion.

It is not a matter of believing that God exists, though personally I believe that. It is a matter of believing, as our founders did, that belief in God is very conducive to a successful republic.

Minimum Wage Hype | Hoover Institution

Minimum Wage Hype | Hoover Institution: "One of the essential tenets of the system of laissez-faire is that all proposed legislation should be presumed unwise until it is shown otherwise. There are two grounds for this assumption. First, legislation costs money to implement. Second, all too often it interferes with the operation of competitive markets, which generally offer the best long-term path to prosperity.

By this standard, all minimum wage laws should be regarded as mistakes. The point is especially urgent when labor markets are themselves under stress. The White House and the CBO fall into deadly error when they ignore the complications that work against all comprehensive systems of legislation. There is no good reason to believe that even the intended consequences of the minimum wage increase will come to pass. But when the unintended consequences are taken into account, the new legislative program will only slow down a weak economic recovery that already has left far too many people behind.

Outrageously, Democrat state Sen. Ruben Diaz proposed a bill that would force parents to attend four such classes, with the ostensible goal of producing better parenting skills.
In actuality, this would be just another way for an overly intrusive government to force its way into the private lives of citizens. These classes would open the door for government operatives to identify politically incorrect parenting styles and potentially remove children from those they feel are instilling anti-statist values.
Granted, such concern is mere speculation at this point; however, given the current trajectory of education and government interference, it is no longer an unthinkable scenario for many Americans.
